Hala's Place

Feeling Mischevious

This little handbeaded website belongs to Hala, a dancer, instructor, and costumer in Edmonton, Alberta. She first performed publicly in the spring of 2000, and has never looked back. Her husband and grown children have been orphaned by her call to dance.

It would be easy to say that Middle Eastern Dance has become more than just a hobby. Middle Eastern rhythms boom through the house at teenage like volumes, and the floors of her sewing room constantly sparkle with lost sequins.

Through countless hours of research over the last several years, Hala has built up a wealth of material on Middle Eastern Dance, from the history of the dance and cultures of the Middle East, to the costumes and fabrics, and her greatest passion, the music, of which she has ammased, well over one hundred discs.

There is a book in the works which has the working title "Bellydance Students Survival Guide". Check the articles page for teasers.
